About me

Current areas of specialization

  • since 2016, I have been teaching, translating, and interpreting Czech, English, and Russian (I am a Czech native speaker)
  • I focus mostly on cooperation with non-governmental organizations (NESEHNUTI) and Masaryk University (the Support Centre for Students with Special Needs and Faculty of Social Studies)
  • I am a member of the prestigious Czech Union of Interpreters and Translators (Jednota tlumočníků a překladatelů)

Previous experience with languages

  • From 2006 to 2014, I used English and Russian in my work daily - I implemented human rights and civil society projects in the post-Soviet region (Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia) and communicated in English with a range of donors (the European Commission, British and American foundations, the foreign ministries of the Czech Republic, Norway and others)
  • From 2010 to 2014, I lived in the South Caucasus, where I used both English and Russian in my work for a Norwegian non-profit, with South Caucasian partner NGOs, and in everyday life
  • I spent 2015 traveling in North America, where I could deepen my understanding of public life, as well as the environmental and political issues of the current United States and Canada
  • I also studied at the University of Toronto (Canada) and at Izhevsk University (Russia)

Education

  • I graduated with a master's degree in English and Russian Studies from Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic (1999-2005)
  • my English is C2 level and my Russian C1 level

Interests

  • social sciences and politics
  • art, reading, swimming, being outdoors, traveling
  • I love languages, and currently am studying Spanish 🙂
